Latino Dinner Expansion
Sussex County Health Coalition is pleased to announce the expansion of our community dinner model to reach the Hispanic Community. We have partnered with La Esperanza, University of Delaware 4-H Program and the Indian River School District to provide four community dinners providing healthy meals to over 600 people in April and May of this year. Each dinner will feature a guest speaker providing health education and a fun physical fitness activity. This is a great way to share vital health information to the Hispanic Community.

We are also pleased to share that we have issued three minigrants, in the amount of $600.00 each, to Early Learning Programs, to fund community dinners containing a health or nutrition education component. Primeros Pasos will host two dinners and the Sussex Tech P.A.C.T.T. Child-Care Center will host one dinner.

Both of these initiatives are supported by funding from the Division of Public Health’s PANO-Latino Expansion Grant and is designed to help expand health and nutrition messaging in the Hispanic Community. We are thrilled that the children and families, at these two very deserving child-care centers, will be able to provide these special evenings for their families!
