Delaware, and particularly Sussex County, has been impacted significantly by both the pandemic and epidemic over this past year. With surges in both COVID-19 and overdose deaths, we have been hit very hard in 2020.

With that being said, our community and our partners have responded heroically in helping our friends, families, co-workers, and agencies during these tough times. We have seen loss of businesses, non-profits, and life in unprecedented numbers, all occurring within the shadow of a country that appears to have growing issues of division. Our communities, state, and country are experiencing through COVID-19 a shared trauma/event that is having, and will have, ripples of impact over the next decade and beyond. It would be easy to fold our tents, pack our bags, and walk away. That is not what Sussex countians are about. Our organization, our partners, and our community have been ALL IN!

These articles center around initiatives and partners we can count on as we boldly move forward towards 2021.

They include Delaware State University and its new venture in examining COVID-19 and its spread in underserved communities, United Way in its work to address inequalities and racial division, the Delaware libraries in creating opportunity and support for its communities, and Delaware Goes Purple to bring about awareness, education, and hope to those suffering from addiction.

These challenges are real, they are huge, and they are long term. Our community is resilient, passionate, and committed to standing beside our residents and their families.

SCHC and its partners are ALL IN! as we all work to navigate these uncertain and difficult times together! We are glad to share just a portion of these highlights with you, our members!
